Today I have confirmation that Baby Dude will probably be just fine in smaller one size diapers when he comes home from the hospital. This piece of news excites me considering we have purchased 3 Kawaii pure and naturals, 4 smaller Alva Baby one size diapers, 6 newer Alva Baby one size pocket diapers (higher rise) and around 6 various Kawaii one size diapers with high rises. I’m proud that I took a shot in the dark based on internet research and have created pretty stylish diaper stash that fits our lifestyle. Thanks to CottonBabies.com I have also purchased 3 Litewrap newborn size diaper covers and 20 preemie prefolds to use for the first couple of weeks and later as doublers. That purchase came to the amount of $43.85 and included free economy shipping (3-4 day first class USPS).
A few of our diapers have come from 2 Ebay auctions totaling a purchase of $27 for 4 diapers; but most of them have been purchased through online cloth diaper shops. Some of the shops have physical locations and some do not. I tend to shop with the businesses that offer free shipping, due to the fact that in most cases once you add shipping into your purchase you could spend less money by spending a little more on the actual product(s) and taking advantage of free shipping. In my case the free shipping offers have not been those that require you to spend a certain dollar amount. The only time that really works out is when you can find the items you want on sale or use coupon codes. If you have the time to wait on shipping from overseas I highly suggest checking out Alva Baby and other manufacturers that also distribute, you could save a good chunk of change that way and get some nice looking diapers with a good reputation. My purchase from Alva Baby totaled $36 for 6 pocket diapers, with free shipping to the US. Also check out Canadian companies as some only charge as little as $5.95 to ship to the US.
Kawaii Baby Diapers are great but they tend to run low on stocked items and to qualify for free shipping you have to spend $80. When I started Baby Dude’s stash I had already performed enough research to know what I wanted so spending $75 for free shipping to start his stash was a pretty good deal. That $75 got us 9 diapers, which wasn’t a bad deal at all.
So there you have it a newborn/small size diaper stash for under $200 that is stylish (not just solid colors) and very functional (mostly pockets). At this point I’m still considering some Econobum covers to go over the fitteds and prefolds I’ve made just to have something to fall back on in case we need it.
